Be sure to trace all the contours (outlines) of all the objects, as well as all the shadows and highlights. If the graphite is too dark upon your canvas or paper, simply use a kneaded rubber or other eraser to blot out the excess graphite. These two work-in-progress images show how the visual information that is recorded by the transfer paper serve as visual pinpoints for the placement of each feather. You’ll have all the shapes in place, saving you hours of re-work and can jump straight in to the shading stage or turn your fabulous drawing into a painting.Simply lay the transfer paper between the image to be copied and the drawing/watercolour paper and outline the image with a pencil etc.

If you're not sure whether you're pressing too hard or too soft, gently and carefully lift up a corner of the reference photo and transfer paper to see what's going on underneath. Graphite paper can be smudgy, so wash your hands immediately after removing the paper from your canvas. Even on watercolour paper you can do this firmly without damaging the paper as it’s very gentle on the surface. Place a piece of wax free transfer paper between the image and your paper and simply trace over the outline.

It’s a good idea to test/check first to make sure you have the proper side down before copying your entire design. You have to press quite hard to get a clear outline but have already used this to trace three drawings with success.You have more than enough creativity and talent, what you need are skills - both for making art and the art of selling art.
