About this deal

I prefer and own camera brand lenses, but if you really need the broader zoom range of this lens, it works extremely well. My biggest concern is that you can get the real Nikon or Canon lenses for the same price. It's been this way for 50 years: off-brand lenses have always offered better on-paper specifications for less money than name brands, but their mechanical, optical and future compatibility are what you're losing in exchange. Today optical quality has advanced to the point that this lens performs extremely well, but it's not built as well nor can it focus as fast as the Canon 100-400mmLISII, and it costs more than the Nikon 200-500mm which has about the same optical quality. I am waiting for your response to this problem which leaves me partly unsatisfied with this excellent lens. Special thanks to John Lawson for his beautiful images! Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Overview If you don't mind always shooting wide-open (f/4.5 at 60mm to f/6.3 at 600mm), then see Nikon Lens Compatibility for details on your camera. Read down the "AF-S" and "G" columns. You'll get the least of what these two columns say, as "G" is actually a downgrade with modern Nikon lenses that removes the aperture ring and therefore compatibility with older 35mm cameras.

As you can see, the Contemporary is actually faster than the Sport version from 313 to 389mm, which would be a pretty normal focal length to shoot with this lens. Focal length is actually kind of complicated to figure out without some serious scientific measuring, but I do like to compare lenses of the same marketed focal length and see which one has more reach. Vibration reduction is designed to counteract the slight shaking you get when shooting handheld. It might only be a small amount of shake, but at long focal lengths it’s amplified many times over. With an effective, modern vibration reduction system, you can often get an extra 2-3 stops before the shaking starts noticeably blurring the photos. In my experience, I wasn’t able to get anywhere near that–perhaps 1 stop at most.Again, with an APS-C camera body, distortion with this super-telephoto is not seen. Full-frame cameras will likely have a little bit of pin cushion distortion, but I wouldn't expect enough to cause a hit to image quality when adjusted in post-processing. But after spending a lot of time with both of these lenses, I found that ease of use was one of my biggest complaints with the Sport version of this lens. At 150mm, sharpness already approaches outstanding levels in the centre of the frame at maximum aperture and the clarity achieved towards the edges of the frame is excellent. There is no benefit to image quality with stopping down, unless it is a creative decision. When I bought these lenses for this review, I was certain that the Sport version would be sharper than the Contemporary given the better build quality, additional FLDelement in the lens, and the significantly higher price.

The box and lens are completely unsealed. There is no way to know if anyone else has been fiddling with your lens, swapping parts and accessories, or even if it's a used lens. Canon EOSR, EF Control Ring Adapter, Extender EF 1.4x II, Extender EF 2x II and Sigma 60-600mm. bigger.

With that said, sigma is unique and offers true value for the money that comes with worthy features such as build quality, focus, speed, specifications, and more. This is a real 3-D tree trunk, so only the center is in focus while the sides are farther away and not in focus. At shorter focal lengths, you really can't feel any difference between the autofocus speed of these lenses. Use with teleconverters: Yes, Sigma offers two teleconverters TC-1411 and TC-2011 which multiply focal length and maximum magnification by 1.4x resp. 2x – but only for L-mount. The lens probably does not work with Sony’s 1.4x and 2x teleconverters – only the Sony 200-600 certifiably works on Sony’s teleconverters. [+]

The Moon, 0246 UTC 26 October 2018. Canon EOSR, 1.6x APS-C crop, EF Control Ring Adapter, Extender EF 1.4x II, Extender EF 2x II and Sigma 60-600mm set to 600mm, giving an effective 1,680mm focal length, 1/30 at ISO 1,600 at full aperture. bigger. In terms of build quality, the Sigma 150-600mm Sport version takes the blue ribbon by a significant margin. Macro performance is excellent. It's sharp wide-open and gets even sharper stopped down. It gets closest at the shorter focal lengths, but doesn't focus as close at 600mm. Thus the largest image is had at the 200mm setting where you still can get very close and have a reasonably long focal length.Closest focus distance (achieved with manual focus) is 0.53m (1.7ft.) with a very good magnification of 1:2.5 and a working distance of 0.24m (0.8ft.) at 150mm focal length. At 600mm focal length maximum magnification is 1:4.8 with a much longer working distance of around 2.3m (7.5ft.). The Tamron 150-500 goes to 1:2.8 at 150mm focal length (0.36m working distance) and 1:3.2 at 500mm focal length (1.32m working distance). The other lenses in this comparison achieve their maximum magnification at their longest focal length: This is 1:5 at around 2.1m working distance for the Sony 200-600 and Sigma 150-600 HSM Sports, and 1:3.5 at 1.6m working distance for the Tamron 150-600. The Sigma 150-600 DN achieves a magnification of 1:10 at its longest focal length at 5.5m (18ft.) distance. [+]
